Immediate access to healthcare is critical to the quality of life of a community and, consequently, its economic development success. The Liberty area is fortunate to have a healthcare leader, Liberty Hospital, in the community since 1974. Since that time Liberty Hospital has experienced tremendous increase in services thus increasing its patient load as well.
Liberty Hospital is a general acute care hospital with 235 beds. It
is one of 5 Level II Trauma facilities in the KC metro area. Patients
come from all over the northwest Missouri area for care.
Liberty Hospital also serves the role as one of the area's major
employers with over 1,400 employees.
Liberty Hospital was one of the 2007 Partnership for Community Growth and Developments “Breakfast of Champions” award winners. The hospital was recognized for its addition of a pain management center that created 5 new jobs.
Expansion projects in recent years include:
In 1999, 80,000 square feet for a Doctors' Building opened.
In 2002, 43,875
additional square feet were added for the South Patient Tower.
In 2004 the Hospital's Foundation completed a building which houses The Treehouse. The Treehouse has 10 rooms where families can stay when a family member is in the hospital.
In 2005 an 84,000 square foot Medical Plaza East was constructed
including a parking garage at an investment of $25 million.
In 2007, Liberty Hospital began construction on two additional floors for patient care. The project adds almost 30,000 sq ft. and will house 40 additional patient rooms.
